KATTI RIFT VALLEY REGION

The KATTI Rift Valley Chapter covers the following 8 Counties in the region namely Bomet , Nakuru ,Nandi, Uasin Gishu , Elgeyo Marakwet , Baringo and Transnzoia.
This region boasts of two National Polytechnics that is, The Eldoret National Polytechnic and The Kitale National Polytechnic.
The other TVET institutions in the region are Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST),Rift valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI),Kaiboi Technical Training Institute (KTTI), and Ollessos Technical Training Institute(OTTI)
Other TVET institutions that have been newly established and commissioned recently by the National Government, include Aldai TTI, Sot TTI, Sotik TTI, Ziwa TTI, Kapcherop TTI, Baringo TTI, Emining TTI, Moiben TTI, Bureti TTI, Goshin TTI, Endebess TTI, Kipsinende TTI and konoin TTI.
The Rift Valley region presents not only a well established commercial sector but also vast agricultural/agribusiness industries based on such commercial crops as tea, maize; horticulture flower and livestock industry (dairy and beef animals)
To sustain these thriving commercial sectors in the rift valley region, there has to be adequate and appropriate skilled artisans, craftsmen, technicians and technologists to support the economy.
The TVET institutions in the rift valley region mount market driven technical training programmmes in the area of:
- Engineering(mechanical ,building and construction, electrical/telecommunication, automotive ,land survey among others)
- Information communication technology (ICT)
- Business /commerce
- Health and applied sciences (applied biology, analytical chemistry ,science laboratory,pharmacy,medical engineering )
Apart from the core TVET programmes, institutions in the region expose their learner to a number of physical talents tapping activities in games and sports that include athletics, balls and games and performing arts such as drama and music. The other activities that see our region well represented is Science Innovation and Robotic contests. Most of the institutions participate at both the regional and the national level. This year, several exhibitors qualified to participate in the Science Week scheduled for mid-2018 in Nairobi.
AWARENESS CREATION ACTIVITIES
The dissemination of information is undertaken periodically to market the training programmes that are on offer in the TVET institutions. These activities are usually held free of charge in various centers across the region.
